St Agnes Surgery advises that we are now only dispensing Pfizer Bivalent Comirnaty Vaccination as the booster Vaccination for eligible patients

The Bivalent Corminaty (Pfizer) vaccine is approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and recommended by ATAGI as a COVID-19 booster dose.

The current covid booster recommendations as of March 2024 are:
75 years and older
75 years and older
- Recommended every 6 months.
- Recommended at least every 12 months, but can receive every six months. Talk to your healthcare provider about the risks and benefits.
- With severe immunocompromise: Recommended at least every 12 months, but can receive every six months. Talk to your healthcare provider about the risks and benefits.
- Without severe immunocompromise: Can receive every 12 months.
- With severe immunocompromise: Can receive every 12 months.
- Without severe immunocompromise: Not recommended.
- Not recommended.

Side Effects
1) Pfizer/BioNTech Vaccine: In trials this vaccination has been well tolerated. The worst side effects were fatigue and headaches after the second dose. (4%). People with severe allergies may have a more serious adverse reaction. Rarely myocarditis and pericarditis has been reported. 2) AstraZeneca vaccine: At this stage side effects are being reported as minor. Most common:
Note that influenza or other vaccinations won't be given within 1 week of any primary course Covid vaccination. It is safe to give influenza vaccinations with covid booster doses. |
