​​James was born in Adelaide and studied medicine at the University of Adelaide. He graduated in 1990 with a MBBS. After working for several years in Perth, in 1995, he returned to Adelaide and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practice

​James joined St Agnes Surgery in 2000 and became one of the partners in 2001.

He is involved in all aspects of general practice but has a particular interest in paediatric and geriatric medicine.

James is married to Sarah and they have 4 children. His interests include music, playing golf and walking his dogs.
