Out of Hours Care

When our clinic is closed, you still have access to safe and reliable medical care.
Please use the following services from least urgent to your most urgent needs:


1. 13SICK – National Home Doctor Service (13 74 25)
Best for non-urgent issues after hours
13SICK provides bulk-billed after-hours home visits for conditions that cannot wait until the clinic reopens.
Use this service for:
  • Minor illnesses (fever, coughs, sore throats, infections)
  • Minor injuries
  • ​Prescription repeats (when clinically appropriate)
  • Medical concerns that are not life-threatening but need attention overnight or on weekends

2. HealthDirect Nurse Advice Line (1800 022 222)

For guidance when you’re unsure what to do
Healthdirect is staffed by registered nurses who can assess your symptoms over the phone and advise the safest next steps.
Use this service for:
  • Unsure whether you need a doctor, ambulance, or emergency care
  • Symptom advice and triage
  • Support in deciding whether an issue can wait until the clinic reopens

3. Medicare Urgent Care Clinics

For urgent, but not life-threatening medical problems
These clinics can see patients who need prompt assessment but do not require hospital emergency services. 
Use this service for:
  • Worsening infections
  • Asthma flare-ups
  • Minor fractures or sprains
  • Cuts requiring stitches
  • ​Illnesses that cannot wait but are not emergencies

4. SA Ambulance Service (000)
For emergencies requiring immediate response
Call 000 if you or someone else is experiencing a life-threatening issue.
Call 000 for:
  • Chest pain or suspected heart attack
  • Breathing difficulty
  • Severe bleeding
  • Sudden weakness, facial drooping, or suspected stroke
  • Seizures
  • Major trauma or accidents
  • Collapse or unresponsiveness
  • Any situation that feels like a medical emergency

5. Hospital Emergency Department
Modbury Hospital - Smart Road Modbury
For serious or life-threatening conditions
Attend your nearest Emergency Department if you are seriously unwell or have been advised to go by 13SICK, HealthDirect, or a clinician.
Use this service for:
  • Severe injuries
  • Serious infections
  • Severe pain or breathing problems
  • Major allergic reactions
  • Complications of chronic conditions
  • Any condition needing immediate hospital tests or treatment
